Both are women of a passionate and generous but demanding character, and their personalities are fully expressed in the preparation of this exceptional wine.
Charmed by the finesse
Through its fine and delicate structure, Femme de Champagne Vintage 2004 presents a wine of exceptional finesse and aromatic complexity. At once smooth, rounded and silky, and in appearance like mother-of-pearl, Femme de Champagne 2004 reflects the elegance and the refinement sought by Maison Duval-Leroy for an unforgettable tasting experience.
Femme de Champagne is the result of a delicate marriage of the best parcels of grapes from the region. Fine bubbles gush through the wine, bright with hints of the yellows and greens of springtime, and lit up with the sparkle of silvery moonbeams.
On the palate, a bewitching flavour of ripe hazelnuts surrounds the floral fragrance of honeysuckle, followed quickly by the delicate notes of crystalized mandarin orange peel.

Precis som i Bourgogne är detta en härligt generös årgång med en ljus framtid i sikte. Det är första gången som jag börjar känna mig en smula gammal i gamet. Jag har nämligen provat den årgången tidigare i mitt liv! Så slående lika är 2002 och 1982 att jag tycker mig kunna förutspå årgångens hela livskurva. Jag tror på en väldigt linjär formkurva utan hack och bottnar. Vinet blir med tiden så sakteliga smörigare och fetare medan den relativt höga syran ligger och gör sitt jobb i det tysta. Vinerna kommer att nå topplatån någonstans vid trettio års ålder. Mest lovande hittills är en mängd odlare såsom Egly-Ouriet, Arnould, Pierre Gimonnet & Fils, Jacques Selosse och Diebolt-Vallois. Krug Clos du Mesnil är som vanligt vassast av allihop och Amour de Deutz, Piper Rare, Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque Blanc de Blancs, Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill och Louis Roederer Cristal är ren nektar, men mest intellektuellt utmanande är nog Jacquessons vingårds-viner Champ Caïn samt Vauzelle Terme.
